A man named Edmund Burke once said: "The only thing needed for evil to prosper is for good men to do nothing." He also stated that "Nobody made a greater mistake than he who did nothing because he could do only a little."
Well said! Thank you, Mr. Burke! Each of us can - and should - do our part in this fight to make our own choices of our food. Let's work to become better informed, and let those who would work to take away our right to choose, either actively or passively, know that we cannot, and will not, accept the loss of our freedom to choose our own food for ourselves and our families. In fact, we have the RIGHT and DUTY to protect such God-given and mandated freedoms.
Search out the contact information of your state officials and give them a piece of your informed mind! Contact your state milk board, your attorney general, your governor, your lieutenant governor, your senators, and your local representatives (and PLEASE don't forget to contact those of Missouri, who obviously have turned a blind eye to doing what is right.)
One person recently argued for regulation by stating, "The United States has the safest food in the world!" Sadly, this person was equating heavy regulation with health! Is the United States the healthiest country? Check this out:
According to a 2007 report done by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), in a comparison of 30 countries, the U.S. ranked 3rd HIGHEST in infant mortality, HIGHEST in adult obesity, and 24th in life expectancy. In 2005-6, the U.S. ranked HIGHEST in child obesity, ages 11-15. In a 2006 comparison of 28 countries, the U.S. had the 6th HIGHEST mortality rate due to ischemic heart disease.
Man has cast aside the best rule Book ever written and substituted a plethora of regulations that are impossible to live by. We must take responsibility for our own health, first by observing the Laws for cleanliness that were given to us in God's Word (the Bible), and using the senses that He gave us. Then we must take the initiative to defend our God-given (not man-given) right to choose our own food - again - first by observing the food Laws given to us in His Word, and then, by sharing the need for action with our friends, neighbors, co-workers, state representatives, etc. Let us NOT be guilty of doing nothing!
